The Biggest Loser

I really love this show, especially since it’s really making permanent changes in people’s lives…but then I feel really guilty (like I should be working out 8 hours/day) and that oreos are from satan himself. But I feel like 5-6 days of working out is okay for me, right? The only thing I dislike about the show is that they send people home (9 on the first episode of the season), but luckily they keep a finale incentive of $100,000 or something if they lose the most weight while at home. Also, it is important that once people leave the show (which they will all do eventually), they know how to manage their time and eat well. I really admire the courage it takes for these people to take their struggle to national television and really work on making a lifestyle change. On that note, wish I had a personal trainer to help me everyday.

Also, with the recent death of John Travolta’s son, I’ve been following the causes of his death and if it could have been prevented. According to Access Hollywood (which is only on because I was watching something else okay), some Scientologists don’t recognize autism as a disease (which his son was suspected of possibly having). I do agree with Scientologists to an extent, that we are too medicated and too dependant upon drugs, but there is a point where they are necessary (ie, when they can save lives). From what I know, Scientologists see things as very black and white, and don’t believe that mental illnesses are real, that drugs prescribed by a psychiatrist are not necessary. Being so interested in psychology, I can’t help but disagree with this…but another side of me knows that diseases are invented by drug companies and create problems for people instead of solving them by making them believe something is wrong with them. It’s really complicated, and so not black and white. What’s the answer? No mental illnesses? All mental illnesses are real? Who knows.

On a super positive note, I BEAT TETRIS. Yeah, all 15 levels. I was so excited.

Interview tomorrow (please wish me luck, I need this for several purposes). Birthday on Friday (meaning I finally get to find out what Curt got me!). Basketball game on Sunday (hayyyy Al Nolen). I’m a pretty happy girl :)
